Summer Lineup of New Anime & New Seasons

Not much to say here, except there is a summation of some newly announced anime series that will be airing and what month they'll be appearing in.  If you have seen...
  • Kingdom
  • Tamayura
  • Symphogear
  • Monogatari
  • Recorder to Randsell*
  • Hakkenden
  • Milky Holmes*
  • High School DxD
  • Loliball
  • Teekyuu
  • Senyuu
...then you might be interested in seeing the continuation of the series in a new season!  If you're a fan of Fate, there's a spinoff that has the main character being featured as a magical girl, if that's up your alley.

Almost every show comes with a little summation, courtesy of atxpieces over at wordpress.com.  Personally, I think Blood Lad looks pretty interesting since I have looked at the manga briefly.  Go-Home Records looks kind of interesting and cute, though I don't know much about it aside from that summary.  Of course, I've already looked at Recorder, which is quality and adorable.  We've also featured it in one of our weekly games, the adorable and amazing cute one if any of you guys recall~

Not featured in that above link, another series getting a second season that has quite a few following fans thrilled is Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!  Another I've never heard of, but myanimelist has this as its episode summary:

"Yuuta Togashi suffered from chuunibyou while he was in middle school. When he graduated, he put that dark history behind him and forgot about it... or he was supposed to. High school was smooth sailing and full of enjoyment—until the unavoidable, sad event occurs. The event that locks Yuuta into a contract with Rikka Takanashi and disrupts his desperately ordinary life."

It has twelve episodes in the first season, and ended airing late 2012.  Not much has been said about what the second season will entail, not even when we can expect it to start airing, but it has been confirmed to be in the works.

Well, that's the news so far.  Be on the lookout for some more summer posts to this blog.  I received some interest in people keeping in contact with the blog and posting pictures of their anime summer exploits.  Let me have it!  As always, I'm excited to for what this next semester holds, and the summer of opportunity between here and there.

Election Results are in!

An adequate portrayal of my feelings toward all of you.

Short, sweet, and simple post for this past week.  The election results were announced last night during the cosplay party.  Our President for next year shall be Meghan Phelan, advancing up the ranks, our Vice President the very lovely Megan Maginnis, our Treasurer the high-energy Katie Eberhard, and I, Lauren Stead, shall be remaining your Secretary because it is the only thing I am competent at.  I also derive some enjoyment from writing blog posts and injecting my opinion into everything in a very passive manner.  Whoo hah!

I would also like to take the time to announce some page view counts because I know there are people out there.  Are they reading every word of mine?  Probably not, but I do enjoy keeping everyone in the know since the blog sort of fell by the wayside in the past semesters.

Page Views Last Month: 192

Page Views This Semester: 597

Page Views OF ALL TIME:  9,721

Seriously, that's almost 10,000 page views for our teensy little Susquehanna Anime blog, which I think is fantastic.  So thank you all for a simply grand spring semester this year.  Thank you for somehow electing me into office too.  I have found so many new anime series I want to follow, which I think is the point of this club, and I hope if you're not actually attending club you are still living vicariously through this blogspot.  Over the summer I plan on updating with some anime news, maybe monthly or bi-weekly I'm not all too sure yet, but I can't just let it fall silent over the summer.  I will be attending Otakon, so maybe I'll throw some pictures and videos up of that event.

If you are attending any other conventions, let me know!  Anyone can comment on this, or email me at stead@susqu.edu with pictures and anime news coverage.  Here's to a glorious year, and a salute to those seniors who shall be leaving us after this semester.  Now, the day is beautiful outside, so go take a walk and relax before the onslaught of finals really settles in...

K

Synopsis:  Set in a world where history has taken a slightly different course from the one we're familiar with, K follows the story of a young boy whose life is caught in a psychic war between seven kings.

Ashinaka High School is known for its unique setting: the entire campus is built on an island. Yashiro Isana, aka Shiro, is having lunch with a cat on one of the school rooftops. After his lunch break, Shiro goes on an errand for his classmate Kukuri to prepare for their upcoming school festival, only to be chased by some intimidating-looking men.

Genres: Action, Supernatural

Episodes: 13
Status: Finished (2012)
Rating: PG-13

Secretary Comments: This anime looks gorgeous, the whole thing just oozing quality.  The action scenes are pretty tense when they happen, and there's plenty of intrigue to go around to hook you after just the first episode.  I mean, I know I'm going to be picking up this anime (if only because the main character is, you guys know me...) because overall it looks like a winner.  There is also a second season, and it has some very amusing lines/moments so it's well rounded entertainment for all!  Unless you're under the age of 13.  Then ratings say, KEEP OUT.

Yukiteru is then forced to participate in a game whose winner will become Deus' successor.

 Number of Episodes: 26
Status:  Finished Airing
Rating: R+

Secretary's Note:  Oh. My. Goodness.  That's all.  If you enjoy plot with some death and really tense psychological twists, watch this anime.  Read the manga.  I cheated and read the plot synopsis, and might still go back and watch this even after knowing what happens somewhat.  Saves me the fingernails.

Jaycon @ Elizabeth Town

I was just looking at our page view sources and I realized that we get a lot of hits from the Elizabethtown Jaycon site.  I would just like to have a post to say a big thanks to those guys, and that I've heard their convention is pretty fun and awesome.  I'm going this year, since I missed out last time, so I'm pretty stoked.  If you're within the Pennsylvania area, you should really consider attending.  For the size and quality convention it is, this con is a steal at the at-door registration price of $15.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha

Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Romance

Synopsis: After a long and treacherous journey, our Hero finally arrives at the Dark Lady's castle only to find himself being asked for help. The Hero explains how the war that the demons have brought upon the humans have killed thousands and put more in misery. The queen of demons however argues that this war has made the human society band together as one and showed empirical evidence how it has increased population, increased production, boosted economy and improved society overall. Furthermore, she explains to the Hero that ending this war will result in a civil war that will produce more bloodshed than there ever was. The Hero, convinced that the only way to bring peace, relatively speaking, is to join forces with the Dark Lady, agrees to help with her plans!

Number of Episodes: 12
Status: Currently Airing
Rating: PG-13

Secretary's Note: This looks really really cool.  It's got a bit of humorous scenes in it, for some good laughs, and the first episode was really cute.  The art style is very, very fluid and from those who have read the manga, it appears as if the fighting scenes are depicted much better animated.
